Nunavut: apostille and legalization for documents issued there
We are based in Montreal and work across Canada. Documents arrive by courier and go back the same way.
Which authority issues the apostille
No separate competent authority has been designated here, so documents issued in this jurisdiction are apostilled by Global Affairs Canada in Ottawa. The certificate is identical to a provincially issued one; the difference is a courier leg and the federal queue.
Nunavut documents are apostilled by Global Affairs Canada. Shipping is the long pole in the schedule rather than the authentication itself, so tell us your deadline at the outset and we will work backwards from it.
Competent authorities are set by government and can change. We confirm which one applies to your file in writing before anything is filed.
Documents issued here
The provincial and territorial records we handle most often. Federal documents (RCMP certificates, immigration papers, federal incorporations) always go to Global Affairs Canada, whichever province you are in.
Then the destination decides the rest
The apostille answers only half the question. Whether a consular stage follows it depends on the country the document is going to.
